Compass supports Cancer Research UK

Cancer Research UK has been our chosen charity since 2009.

Did you know that one in three of us will get cancer at some point in our lives?

Cancer Research UK is the world's leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. Their groundbreaking work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer has saved millions of lives. Survival rates have doubled in the last thirty years and the charity has been at the heart of this progress. Their vital work, funded entirely by the public, will help to ensure that millions more people will survive.

Since the launch of the partnership in January 2009, our employees have gone above and beyond all expectations to try and reach their massive target of £250,000 in the first year. Directors began their fundraising in style by taking on a director's challenge in January. Others have followed in their footsteps with a wide range of activities including sky diving, cycle rides, treks in the alps, sponsored walks, marathon running, cricket, football and golf days, as well as fabulous bake sales, dress down days, raffles and more!

Compass Group's partnership with Cancer Research UK has opened up endless possibilities. With the £250,000 that we are aiming to raise in the first year, Cancer Research UK could buy a piece of equipment called a DNA sequencer which could help identify potential new cancer genes. Or the money could cover all the costs of their Cancer Information Nurses, who provide a confidential service for anyone with concerns about cancer, for around nine months.
